12 week quilt-a-long, week 2

Today I finished week 2's block of the twelve week quilt-a-long. I used the same fabrics as week 1, but added an orange fabric as the second fabric.

crazymomquilts also added a photo of what the finished product will look like. I am so excited about this project!!!

Pay It Forward

I've been chosen by Knit On Quilt Too to be part of the Pay it Forward exchange!

The idea of the exchange is I will send a handmade gift to the first 3 people who leave a comment on this blog post requesting to join this PIF exchange. The item you receive hasn't been chosen yet, but you will receive something! The only thing you have to do in return is pay it forward by making the same promise on your blog.

I don't even know if I have readers who are craft-sy, but this would also work for other gifts. I'll contact the winners by email and then get their addresses.

Any takers? :)

Quite Informative, Indeed

I love this post about the functional importance of chaps on cowboys, by the Pioneer Woman.

12 week quilt-a-long, week 1

What's my latest project? Besides sewing a commissioned baby quilt and matching travel diaper changer, I'm participating in a weekly quilt-a-long, organized by crazy mom quilts. This is going to be so cool -- at the end of 12 weeks, we will have 12 twelve-inch blocks for a quilt!

Of course, I'm behind schedule... She's already put up 3 weeks worth of blocks and I just finished week one's block:

I think I'll have my next two blocks done tomorrow. FUN, FUN, FUN!!!

Kitschy Kitchen Apron Swap - Part 2

My craftster partner received her apron, so now I can post photos of the apron and matching pot holder I made!

She wist'ed for lots of different styles, but one that I love is the "Desperate Housewife" design. I had made a similar one for a bridal shower in May, so I knew I could do it. And yes... I did it free-hand. I have no idea how to sew a pattern, so I just guessed!

It ties at the neck and around the waist. It also has two pockets at the hips.

Oh, and I also made a matching pot holder, using coordinating fabrics. One was a large cherry print and the other was a black background with white dots.

I can't wait to get my apron from her. :)

Kitschy Kitchen Apron Swap - Part 1

I'm participating in my second craftster swap... This time its a Kitschy Kitchen Apron Swap! This is a remake of an apron I made as a gift for a bridal shower and I think it turned out great.

Here is a preview of the apron I made for my partner... I'll post another photo when she receives it.
