Blue Genie Art Bazaar

Last night the boy and I shopped at the Blue Genie Art Bazaar. We've gone a couple of times in the past, but this year we were motivated to shop because the location is closer to his house and we know someone selling crafts at the bazaar this year!

Two Saturdays ago we were at a party and one of the guests Molly mentioned she worked for Blue Genie. She came directly from work at the bazaar to the party. I told her that someone I knew was selling her crafts at the bazaar, and Molly said she'd take a look at her booth.

Fast forward one week to another party (my, aren't we popular!!) and there was Alicia! Alicia had met Molly, and Molly mentioned that "Bobbi and David" said they knew her. Alicia told us that for the life of her, she couldn't picture who "Bobbi and David" were. Her friend David lived in Florida and she didn't know he was dating a "Bobby", and she thought, "I don't know any other couples named Bobby and David." Alicia and Molly spent about 5 minutes trying to figure out the connection, and not until Molly used the pronown "she" did Alicia figure out I was said "Bobbi" and the boy and I are a straight couple. :)

Anywho... I loved the stuff at Blue Genie! If any of you Austinites get the chance, check it out! Its FREE! There are some awesome items for sale. We walked away with a dinosaur print small messenger bag for the boy's niece for Christmas. Its an opportunity to give handmade gifts without having to do the hand-making yourself.

Homemade Christmas Presents

If I didn't have to work full-time between now and the 21st of December, I would love to make homemade gifts for loved ones.

Here is a compilation of my gift wish-lists, the ones I wish I had time to make:

Place mats and coasters

The quilted place mats and coasters were one of the many, many, many homemade gift ideas provided by Sew, Mama, Sew! in November. These place mat and coaster tutorials are like mini quilts. Right up my alley!

Luggage Tags

fabric luggage tags by J's Quilting Blog
Although I don't envy J's Quilting Blog's recent snowfall, she sure does have some adorable luggage tags!

Tissue Holders

Here is another homemade gift idea from Sew, Mama, Sew! I've seen this idea on craftster and Bella Dia's detailed tutorial, but craftapolooza has another handy tutorial.

Lunch Sack

Supafine has a simple tutorial for making a reusable lunch sack, based on plastic grocery store bag. I'd love to make a few of these for my own personal grocery shopping.

3-D snowflake ornaments

I would love to decorate my home with garlands of paper snowflakes! I especially love this 3-D ornament made by How About Orange. She has lots of tutorials for any snowflake your heart desires.

Is bowling a sport?

A friend in OKC is trying to win a bet. He dares to ask the question....

Is bowling a sport?

I say YES, IT IS!

First of all, its a game in the Wii Sports package.

And second, its the only sport you get to drink beer while you play it!

Help him out... vote today!

12 week quilt-a-long, weeks 3 & 4

I worked on blocks for week 3 and week 4 of the quilt-a-long tonight.

I love week 3 -- I introduced a third fabric into the mix.

But week 4's block just did not work out...

The sides are all an inch shorter on each side! AAAACK! My seams probably weren't 1/4 of an inch. I am going to have to re-do this one, if I want to use it in the final quilt.

Anyone else have problems with block 4?
