200 Meters

Last night I finished putting together the quilt... front & back!

This morning I began machine quilting it. I bought two spools of extra strong thread in gray, to match the front and back fabrics. Extra strong thread only came in 100 meter spools, so I bought two. That should've been enough -- or so I thought!

I'm out of thread. Conflicting thoughts. Do I run back to Joann's for more thread or let it be? Decisions, decisions. I'm so anxious to get started on the binding!

If you look at it a year from now without more quilting will you think, "I'm so glad I didn't waste my time quilting it more," or will you think, "Oh, I should have just taken an extra few hours to get more thread and do more quilting?"

Good points Beth. I'm going to get more thread tomorrow after work tomorrow to finish. :)

Janell, Thanks for the compliments. Got my thread at lunch and some new needles for sewing the binding. I should have finished photos by the end of the week! Its my Valentine's Day present to me. So yeah, I love the fabrics too. :)

I just ran across your blog because of the quilt row swap. I had to comment because I also have a vintage Viking. In my case, I have a 6430! It was a thrift store find that I just sent off to have serviced. I'd love to hear how it quilts for you.

Hi Valerie! I'm looking forward to the Quilt Row Swap. :)

My sewing machine is a Viking Husqvarna 6440, circa about 1975. It was my mom's "wedding present" from my dad. Something my grandma picked out and insisted she buy top of the line because it was going to be the sewing machine she had for life!

I took possession in college about 10 years ago. Three years ago, I had it completely rehauled: all the cams were serviced to remove the "gunk" buildup. It cost what a new Singer might cost, but I love this machine. Its a workhorse!

The only drawback... When I go into Joann's to pick up new fabric, sometimes I have a question about my machine. The salespeople are idiots and don't have any knowledge on the older machines. Luckily, I have a show in a town nearby that can service and answer all my questions.

Have fun with your new thrift store find! Hope its good to you. :)
