My Little Golden Irish

I haven't posted photos of our dog since the week we got him! He's a bundle of energy and always has lots of love for everyone. Chauncey won't ever be a guard dog. He's a kisser, not a barker.

Did you know dirt tastes good? So does grass and sticks and berries, according to Chauncey.

Plus, rain is fun to play in!

Chauncey hates it when you take too many photos. Especially after a romp in the rain.

We're still working on his retrieving skillz. His favorite toys are of the squeaky variety. Sometimes he'll bring them back. Sometimes... not.

Why the trouble with retrieving, for a Golden Retriever? Because he might not a Golden Retriever after all! We are thinking he might be a Golden Irish, a mix between Golden Retriever and Irish Setter. Chauncey looks just like Archie. They could be brothers!

And no, I haven't sewn anything for him. No bandanas, toys, or blankets. I would like to make a dog bed cover someday. Because dog beds are expensive, y'all!

Off to walk Chauncey to the dog park! He gets sad when he doesn't get to play with all of his friends at the park.

He's so big already! So cute. Is there a way to find out for sure about the breed?

Janell, yes, he is big already. About 45 pounds big. A five year old was over at out house yesterday, and although Chuancey loves to play with little kids, he is pretty overwhelming to little kids. Especially when they don't like to be kissed on the face. :)

He should grow up to be about 60 to 65 pounds, we are guessing. As to tell for sure about the breed, we could get a genetic test done, but its expensive ($100?) and I'm fine without knowing!

Yep, he's a Golden Irish. I had one who looked just like yours. He was the best dog ever. Hope you have the energy to keep up with him. He'll be active until about 10 or 11 years.

Where'd you get him, BTW? I got mine by dumb luck, but now will only ever have that type of breed. Thanks.

Ethan, thanks for stopping by! I found him on craigslist. Both his parents were supposedly Golden Retrievers, but no papers. I saw both parents in the backyard when I picked him up. I only paid a re-homing fee for him. And yes! He has lots of energy! And he's so smart!!! He can play dumb, but he knows exactly what he's doing. ;)

Chauncey is so cute. I have a Golden Irish named Lainey so I was looking at pics and saw your blog. Chauncey looks a lot like my Golden Irish. They are the best. Tons of fun.

Christopher, that video is amazing. Our Chauncey is now 15 months old and we couldn't get him to do that. What does that say about me as a dog owner? :)
